The few basic definitions I've needed so far aren't listed. I've had to use Wikipedia, which is really sad when I have a "medical dictionary" sitting in front of me. I really wish I'd gone with the Mosby's. It might be helpful in advanced settings, but not educational. Also, the print is small and difficult to read...even for a person with normal vision. Save your money and go with another brand. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, 21st Edition (Thumb Index Version) (Hardcover) This is the BEST medical dictionary I have used. I have been doing medical transcription for 8 years and this is the only dictionary I use now. In the beginning, I tried other dictionaries but this one was far superior to any of the others. I haven't even gotten around to using the CD that came with this dictionary because the book itself serves my needs. Many entries are cross referenced and a lot of entries offer clinical information, such as how the condition is diagnosed and how to treat it, which comes in handy when trying to decipher a medication or a lab test that goes with a certain condition. I highly recommend this medical dictionary and will always have one as long as I am transcribing. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, 21st Edition (Thumb Index Version) (Hardcover) I was disappointed with Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionay 21st ed. (thumb index version + CD). When I tried looking up items on the CD for audio pronunciation, they weren't in the dictionary and vice versa! Example: "Epihyal" is in the audio pronunciation guide, but not in the dictionary. I can pronounce it now, but I don't know the definition of "epihyal". The nice part of this is the Latin appendices and the Greek alphabet (which comes from the first two letters of the Greek alphabet, alpha and beta). The seller gave me extremely good service in shipping out my order promptly; I was just disappointed with the item itself. I will keep it anyway. I hope Taber's improves the next edition. |
